Recife is the capital city of Brazil's north eastern state of Pernambuco. The typical Recife postcard image is of its miles long turquoise beach Boa Viagem backed by tall skyscrapers and its colourful colonial historic centre and the neighbouring colonial city of Olinda, Recife has lots of history and culture to explore and enjoy! It's both a modern city and historic at the same time which makes it fascinating to explore. Recife is not as well known as Rio de Janeiro and Salvador but in recent years its becoming increasingly more popular with international visitors and its Carnival is said to be one of the best in the world!
